Water Tai-Chi (Ai Chi)

Water Tai Chi (Ai Chi) is water exercise and relaxation program that has been created to help us enjoy the water in a flowing yet powerful progression. Ai Chi increases oxygen and caloric consumption simply with correct form and positioning in the water. It is a perfect relaxation technique for highly stressed, over-challenged clients, and it is ideal for creating improved range of motion and mobility. It was created by combining Tai-Chi concepts with Shiatsu and Watsu techniques and is performed standing in shoulder depth water using a combination of deep breathing and slow, broad movements of the arms, legs, and torso.

A typical Ai Chi session, the trained instructor will take you through a repeated sequence of moves using a combination of rounded, slow and graceful movements of the arms, legs and torso. This is complimented by deep diaphragmatic breaths and music. Which will ultimately lead you to a state of calm. This is achieved by gradually increasing your ability to follow the set patterns and as the technique progresses you reach an improved balance, poise and stability in the water.

Ai Chi requires warm water enviroment, which increases the blood flow to the extremities whilst maintaining the body’s core temperature throughout the session. The use of warm water is recognized as being able to relax muscles and reduce tension and tightening throughout the body.

Your body will feel like it is doing what it was designed to do, and all sessions are completely private whether you choose to practice one to one or with a partner.

The use of water in Ai Chi sessions has the benefit of supporting the body and reducing the restrictions of weight, experienced with land based exercise.

Water Tai Chi (Ai Chi) is great for FLEXIBILITY & BALANCE, CORE STRENGTH, CIRCULATION and OXYGEN & ENERGY CONSUMPTION!
